Three decades ago, when Patti Walker took over Continuum of Care it was a small social service organization with financial problems and a limited reach.
Today, Walker, the president and CEO of Continuum, runs a $40 million operation that serves some 2,400 clients with serious mental illness, which often leads to homelessness, as well as persons with developmental disabilities.
Continuum’s leadership felt their new headquarters should communicate two ideas: the importance of community and the very human need to have a home. Expressing these ideas with new artwork came naturally in project planning, starting early on with the developer, Centerplan, and the design team at Svigals+Partners.
